Product Review: Lip Balm

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...

I can not stand having dry or cracked lips. So I'm always purchasing lip balm. My most recent lip balm purchase came from Bubble Tub. This store offers handmade soaps and toiletries. I chose this shop because of all the choices having 54 flavors of lip balm and they offer discount with multiple purchase. The listing I chose was Choose 3 and receive 16% OFF.
My purchase only took 8 days to arrive, which is great since it had to go through customs from Canada.
Inside my padded mailer, my balms were in a sheer bag and I also received several cards.
I received a business card, thank you tag, pink tag, and a seed card. My order consisted of three lip balms. I chose Crazy for Coconut (makes me think I'm on the beach), Banana Blast (reminds me of my favorite banana taffy), and Iced Pineapple and Tangerine (another tropical reminder).
I love that the tubes are sealed in plastic. It's very nice to know that your lip balm has not touched another persons lips before yours.  I immediately opened all three to check out the scents and see if my lips say "aaahhh!" Not only do these balms have great scents, but they are super silky smooth on your lips.

The ingredients are printed on the back and as I was reading them, I noticed one specific ingredient "almond oil." I'm thinking "Oh No!" I scramble to look at the other two, and yes they all have almond oil. My youngest son, Aaron, is severely allergic to peanuts and tree nuts.

I discovered Aaron's allergy when he was around 18 months old. I was eating one of my favorite breakfast treats, peanut butter toast and chocolate milk. I tore a corner of toast off and gave it to him, within seconds, his lips began to swell, blotchy redness appeared on his face, and he started to sounding hoarse, obvious Anaphylaxis reaction. He then went through testing which confirmed my fear of the allergy. We also discovered that he is not only allergic to peanuts, but tree nuts too. Now, we have to keep an EpiPen with us where ever we go. You wouldn't believe all the items that contain nuts or exposure to nuts. I discovered a few years after we found out about his allergy, that a mother-to-be should not eat a lot of nuts during pregnancy. I had never heard that before. My craving while pregnant with him was peanut M&M's, and I ate them quite often.

Now back to my review...sorry for the detour. I quickly went to my computer to pull up the listing to see what I had missed. I read through the listing again and didn't see any info on including almond oil. I contacted the seller. I wasn't looking for a refund because I had opened and tested all balms, but I wanted the seller to know that the ingredient "almond oil", really needed to be included in the description and in bold. I could easily forget of having this balm on and kiss my precious child causing a reaction. She stated that the ingredients were listed at the bottom of the item in the "materials" list. Sure enough, it was. Dumb me...but I did learn a valuable lesson...READ EVERYTHING!!! I still think the ingredient should be listed in bold in the items description because it can be dangerous to some. A positive note is that the seller offered to replace the balms with ones made without the oil. She stated that she will make the balms without the oil upon request. I politely declined because I felt she didn't understand the importance and danger of nut allergies, and her product materials and working space may be contaminated with almond oil residue. I'm not willing to take that chance.

I think this product is a great product, being smooth, deliciously scented, and a great price. I would recommend it to those who do not face the challenge with nut allergies. Although, I do feel the seller played down the importance of her using almond oil, the mistake was mine in overlooking the "materials" at the bottom of the page. I will count this purchase a my loss.

Product Review: Beaded Bobby Pins

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...

Since I have let my hair grow long, I'm always looking for cute things to hold it up or back. I wear a lot of bobby pins, in attempt to tame my fly-aways. I came across some cute beaded bobby pins that I could not resist at Dawn Will Break.
My pins arrived promptly in a padded envelope. At the time of my purchase, the store was having a 40% off sale, so I bought two sets of pins. They came wrapped in bubble wrap and this cute vintage story book page. Another great packaging idea.
The pins were attached to a cute card and a business card was also included.
I purchased 2 sets. I like that they have a variety of different beads on them. The first one had to pins with pink beads. The second set had purple, blue, and green pins. The beads are very pretty, the picture does not due them justice. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend others to purchase from this seller.

Here I am wearing my pink and green pins.

Product Review: Sew-On Labels

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...

Since I have been getting serious about my business, I have found several things I need to improve. One of the things I needed was labels on all my creations. I researched different types such as sew-on or iron-on labels. I looked at several stores and decided to order from Inked Papers. This store has several choices in labels including; different sizes in width and length, hundreds of fonts and colors, and some graphics. One of the things I liked best is that they come in a roll that you cut yourself.
It took longer than I expected for my labels to arrive. I will make sure I order replacements earlier than needed. They arrived in a white cardboard folder and neatly wrapped in brown paper.
My labels were rolled neatly in a plastic bag, plus I receive a receipt and a very nice thank you note.
I am pleased with everything except the color. I chose a dark pink to go with my pink theme, and I wanted it to be dark enough to see. It looks more red than pink. I will order from here again, but I will probably lighten the pink.

Product Review: Vintage Pin Cushion

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...

For those of you who know me, you know that I love pink and green. I migrate to those colors in many things. I came across this adorable pin cushion from Vintage Craft Emporium.
Package arrived timely in a manila envelope. I was pleasantly surprise when I opened the envelope and the cushion was wrapped in an old vintage patter. There was also an adorable vintage sticker holding it all together. What a great idea!
I think this little pin cushion is totally adorable. It is really well made in a this vintage floral fabric. The bottom is a solid green.

I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase from this buyer again.

Product Review: YLBB Lip Balm

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...
One of the things I cannot stand is dry, cracked lips. I have worn lip balm as long as I can remember. I keep several tubes around; by my bed, in the kitchen, in my purse, in my studio, etc. I purchase several instead of carrying them around because I don't like a mushy mess from being in my pocket (although, I did find a cute Lip Balm Pouch). I recently purchased 2 sticks of lip balm from Your Lips But Better(YLBB).
I chose one of my favorite flavors, vanilla and I also had to try one of her Super Balm Plus. They arrived promptly within a few days in a small shipping envelope. When I opened the package, the balms were in a small bag with a cute signature label.
Inside the bag were my two balms, thank you card, adorable label card with her dog, Gigi, on it, business card, and a card with product info/guarantee. On the back of one card was a hand written message of thanks. To my surprise, I also received a bonus balm in chocolate.
I have used the balms for several weeks now and I find that the vanilla is my main go to balm over all my other balms. Is has a very pleasant, not overwhelming scent. The chocolate is good too, but not may favorite since I been on a diet...lol. The Super Balm has a slight mint scent and makes my lips tingle. I plan on using this one more in the winter to help fight off the cold. All feel wonderful on the lips, like silk, not greasy. I have been really pleased with my purchase. Not only are these lip balms good products but I get to see the cute little Dachshund on the label every time I use them.
