The New Store: Mountain Attic

Yes, I did it. I opened another Etsy store. I know several people that have multiple stores, and I always wondered why. I mean, I sometimes find it hard to keep up with one store. I have read that if what you sell varies greatly, it is better to open another store catering to that niche.

So, what changed my mind? Well it was my husband, and... a little me. Let me explain. My husband loves those reality shows like American Pickers, Pawn Stars, and Storage Wars. He has always loved going to auctions and yard sales too. So he has decided in his spare time, he was going to purchase storage units and sell the goods out of a local building. He is doing pretty good at it, but the main thing is he loves it. I'm not really an auction person, but I love to yard sale. To find that one piece that fits is always exciting. That is what has happened here. He buys a unit and I rummage through the stuff, looking for that perfect piece. Well, I have found several nice vintage pieces.

These pieces are why I opened another store. We are a husband-wife team in this adventure. He travels and brings in the goods, and I take the pictures and list. Our stash is growing on a steady basis. In fact, I don't know how much more we can store here in our home. I recently went to an estate and came home with my Ford Expedition full. In that lot was a very large bag of very nice vintage fabric. It has taken me a while to sort through, measure, and photograph each piece. There is about 50 pieces ranging from 1/2 yard to 3 yards. The biggest challenge has been not to hoard the fabric all to myself.

Mountain Attic is what we decided to call it. Our love for these beautiful mountains seems to find its way into all aspects of our life. But I think it has a catchy ring to it. The shop is slowly being filled with lovely vintage and primitive treasures.

Take a few minutes to check us out...Mountain Attic.
We also have started a Facebook page.

Great Finds at a Yard Sale

As we were returning from visiting Octoberfest in Wears Valley, we hit a few yard sales. This particular yard sale was in the yard of an antique store. I was reluctant to stop because usually it will be the antique store trying to sell their expensive items. But my hubby insisted we stop and I'm thankful he did.

I first spotted this little wicker stool and had to check it out. It had been painted black and the paint is coming off, so it has that primitive look I like so much. It stands about 8 inches off the ground and I thought that it would make a great item to display some of my prims on. When I first seen the tag, I was shocked. I was expecting a high dollar amount, but it said $4. I couldn't pay for it fast enough.
Here's my cute little stool.
I've not decided what I want displayed on it or where I want it. What do you think? Here in front of my old barn wood cabinet, next to the birdhouse, with this old tea kettle?
Or next to this barn wood cabinet and ladder with an old coffee pot?
Or next to this curio cabinet with my Angel-winged Begonia sitting on top of it?

I also bought this cute little vintage grease pot in the shape of a teapot. I have quite a collection of these vintage aluminum items. I have a few old coffee pots and teapots that I plant flowers in. This will look cute hanging with a little ivy sprouting down the side.
I know it's dirty and a little dented, but that is what gives it its character, and I only gave 25 cents for it. You can't buy a flower pot that cheap any where else.

Product Review: Vintage Pin Cushion

I'm always purchasing different items, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts on my purchases. And what better place to share my opinion than my blog...

For those of you who know me, you know that I love pink and green. I migrate to those colors in many things. I came across this adorable pin cushion from Vintage Craft Emporium.
Package arrived timely in a manila envelope. I was pleasantly surprise when I opened the envelope and the cushion was wrapped in an old vintage patter. There was also an adorable vintage sticker holding it all together. What a great idea!
I think this little pin cushion is totally adorable. It is really well made in a this vintage floral fabric. The bottom is a solid green.

I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase from this buyer again.
