I have a sincere love for animals. I love to learn and talk about them. Since I have come to the end of being able to feature my wonderful pets, I am moving on to featuring your precious pets. So grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and maybe a tissue, sit back, get to know and enjoy these wonderful blessings we call pets but are truly a part of our families.
This week I would like you to meet Anzu, a Roborovski Dwarf Hamster. I have never heard of this type of hamster so I checked out a few sites. This Roborovski Hamster site had the most information on the breed.
Searching Petfinder and Petharbor for a dwarf hamster, Anzu’s owner adopted her from a local animal shelter. Hiding by flattening herself under a paper towel, Anzu makes the trip to her new home. Having a sweet and gentle disposition, she spends time with her owner by running all over her and then taking a nap in the hem of her shirt. She also loves to eat her vegetable, starting in the middle instead of the edges like most hamsters. Her favorite running in her Wodent wheel, storing food in her critter bath, and hiding in her many hideouts. Anzu doesn’t like cage cleaning day because her food storage and nest get disturbed.
Anzu’s owner cleans her wheel often because she urinates in it. This is common for most rodents though. The Roborovski hamsters have maintained a wild nature making them hard to tame. They are naturally skittish and fast, making them hard to hold. These hamsters are fun to watch and Roborovski sites recommend them in pairs of the same sex.
Anzu’s owner is the crafter behind Dragon In Knots on Etsy. The name was chosen for her love of medieval literature. At Dragon In Knots you will find fantasy accessories, winter accessories, novelty coaster, and a few ACEO originals in ink.
