How I Created My Facebook Landing Page

I am always reading articles to help improve my blog or store, and it is a big learning experience for me. Most are articles on improving your blog or social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. It has been quite a challenge because it took lots of time and researching to find what I was looking for. Not to mention I don't fully understand all the lingo.
A few months ago I read an article, actually several articles, on Facebook Landing Pages. I thought what a great idea! Several of the articles were out dated due to changes in Facebook, so I hit a dead end there. Then I came across the info I needed, now I just had to understand it. This took a while because I have very little experience with computer technology and understanding html. I finally accomplished my goal and I wanted to share what I found and how I created my Landing Page on Facebook.

The first thing I discovered was that Facebook no longer supports the Static FBML application that allows you to create a landing page. So I found this application: Static HTML: iframe tab. When you click on the link, scroll down to the left to a find "Add To My Page," and click there. Then you choose which page you want to add it to. Now you will go back to your wall and over in the left hand column you should see "Welcome." Click on the "Welcome" to edit you landing page.
On the edit page you will have two boxes. The first box is what new visitors will see when they visit you page. The second box is what the visitor will see once that "like" you page. In these boxes is where you can paste regular html codes for your design. This is where I had problems. Being a small business I needed to find where I could get a free or cheap html template? With my little knowledge, I have taken a few of these and removed/added the things I wanted or didn't want. I knew I wanted a picture and a way to link to my blog and store. I will share this html below but first got to the next step.

Skip this step if you don't want a picture on your landing page.
If you don't have a picture on you computer or if you want to add words or adjust you picture go to Picnik and create your picture. Your picture has to be 520px width, with the no limitations on the height. Once you have the picture you want for your page upload it to a site like Flickr so you can get the html code for it.

This is the html code for box #1:
<html> <head> <title>YOUR TITLE#1</title> </head>YOUR PICTURE#2<body> <h1>Welcome to my Facebook Page#3</h1> <p>YOUR DESCRIPTION#4</p>ADD LINK TO BLOG OR STORE#5</body></html>

Copy and paste this code in box #1. You will edit all the blue fields by backspacing out the blue and adding your info.
Field 1: Your Title of course is the name of your page.
Field 2: Your Picture is where you will paste your html code for your picture. If you don't want a picture just remove the blue writing, leaving the space blank.
Field 3: Welcome to my Facebook Page, I left this as it is, but you can erase and write any message you want to appear in that spot. It appears right under your photo.
Field 4: Your description. Take this area to describe your page or what your page is for. It can be info about you and what got you started. It's good to offer a coupon or a free download to those who "like" your page.
Field 5: Add a link. If you don't want a link, just remove all the blue words and leave blank. If you want to add a link, go to this page The Smart Passive Income Blog and copy and paste the link for "A Basic Link For Anchor Text" and follow his instructions. He has several other html codes you can use to add to your landing page.

This is what you will see first on my landing page:

This is the html for the second box:
<html> <head> <title>YOUR TITLE#1</title> </head>YOUR PICTURE#2<body> <h1>YOUR MESSAGE#3</h1> <p>YOUR SECOND MESSAGE#4</p>ADD LINK TO STORE OR BLOG#5</body></html>

Copy and paste this code in box #2. You will edit all the blue fields by backspacing out the blue and adding your info.
Field #1: Your title is the name of your page.
Field #2: Your picture is where you paste the html code for your picture. If you do not want a picture just remove the blue writing and leave blank.
Field #3: Your message; Here is a good place to thank those for "liking" your page.
Field #4: Your second message: Is a good place to leave your coupon code of download info.
Field #5: You link: Add a link. If you don't want a link, just remove all the blue words and leave blank. If you want to add a link, go to this page The Smart Passive Income Blog and copy and paste the link for "A Basic Link For Anchor Text" and follow his instructions. He has several other html codes you can use to add to your landing page. If you offer a coupon, here is a good place to give a link to your store.

This is what you see if you "like" my page:

After you have made your changes, save your settings. After saving you are able to view you page.

The last thing you have to do is make sure that your landing page is the first thing non-fans see. To do that go back to your wall, click on "edit page" up in the right-hand corner. Then you will choose "Manage Permission" in the list on the left side. On this page you can scroll down to "Default Landing Tab." Click on the arrow and choose "Welcome." This puts your landing page first.

This is my version of creating a Facebook landing page. I hope it is useful to you.
