In His Word Wednesday: Colossian 1:9-12

We often drop to our knees with a petition to God. A lot of the times it's just to roll our burdens upon God. There is much more to prayer than a passionate plea for God to intervene. Paul often spoke intriguing prayers. We find one of them in Colossians 1:9-12:

(9)For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be  filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
(10)that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
(11)strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy; (12)giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

In this prayer, Paul covers 7 areas of our lives that needs a daily touch of God. Over the next several weeks, I will discuss each area on my Wednesday "In His Word" post.

The first one we see in verse 9. Paul prayed that we may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Ask God to fill you with the spiritual understanding you need as you walk in His will and study His Word.

  2. The ministry "Justice at the Gate" advises us to pray this Collosians prayer for our leaders day by day throughout the week.

    The Word of God, therefore, couldn't be a more perfect prayer.
