In His Word Wednesday: Romans 8:29

Romans 8:29
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Paul wrote that the Lord has predestined us "to be conformed to the image of His Son", but just how is he going to accomplish that? This is accomplished by revealing the truth of His likeness.

Truth can be revealed to us in many ways (listening to a sermon, song, by other believers, prayer), but spending time in His Word is the my favorite. As truth confronts us, we can do one of two things: Either we can refuse to be pushed into God's mold, or we can yield to Him and be fashioned into His likeness. We have to listen in order to comprehend and to comprehend in order to be conformed to His truth. God never speaks in order to entertain us, He speaks that we may be made like Jesus.

All of us are either in the process of resisting God's truth or in the process of being shaped by His truth. I sincerely want to be changed because I have discovered things in me that I'm ashamed of. To to be changed is not always easy, in process and understanding. A hard thing to do is admit that we need to change, and harder still is to ask God to change us. I have fell in love with this song and have made it my personal prayer. I hope you enjoy also.

  1. Change is hard. We all want the think we are doing just fine and don't need to change anything. It's easier that way.

  5. Change is a process. What's so beautiful about grace is that it doesn't require change. Change comes as a result of our own experience in His unconditional grace:)

  7. Thank you for all the uplifting comments. Change is not a requirement but it happens for His glory. I am definitely not the same person that I once was. Thank you Father for the changes you have made in me.

  10. We do resist change -- but as we seek God He produces circumstances that cause positive change in our lives.
